I watched some of the Emmy Awards last night when DH was disgusted with the Cowboys-Giants game. I know it’s heresy, but I was rooting for Eli Manning and the Giants. Don’t tell my Darling Husband though. Anyway, none of the shows I like most won awards.

What’s wrong with these people when Burn Notice wasn’t nominated for anything and BSG, RIP, was only nominated in a couple of technical categories? Not to mention Leverage, In Plain Sight (which will probably be canceled), Eureka, and a few other cross-genre series. Cross-genre is the kiss of death I guess when it comes to television awards. Hey, and what about Top Chef?

Monday Lineup

Dancing With The Stars bows in tonight. Can’t wait to see the Iron Chef kick up his heels. I suspect he’ll be pretty good. No offense intended, but the comic relief must be former Senator Tom DeLay. His participation is a stunner. Can’t imagine he’s anything but first dismissal fodder, and I’m not prejudiced against the guy or anything. He just doesn’t seem like ballroom material to me.

Then there’s Castle with the fabulous Fillion. That’s Nathan Fillion in case you don’t know. I’ve adored him since 2 Guys, A Girl, & A Pizza. Followed him in Firefly, Buffy, and the defunct Drive. He’s great in the movie Waitress if you haven’t seen that little gem, but my favorite movie with him is, of course, Serenity. He, and Susan Sullivan, make Castle worth watching. I suspect that series will get better with time if they can figure out a way around the romantic buildup which, once it culminates in sex, usually means the death of a screwball comedy police/detective/mystery series.

Takeaway Truth

Sly and the Family Stone said it best: “Different strokes for different folks.”
