I’m having a glass of Haak Vineyards Blanc du Bois and celebrating the end of a long day. Not only did I get WordPress upgraded but also I changed templates. I just couldn’t figure out the glitch in my original template that caused the font to change.

Funny thing about the upgrade. I printed out and read a few dozen pages about all that had to be done in order to upgrade. I followed all the instructions including the one about backing up my site.

Then I downloaded the new version and went through the steps. And the site immediately exploded. Could not get it to open at all. And guess what? The backup wouldn’t restore.

So I went to SiteGround my domain host to try to troubleshoot the problem. Went to the Control Panel for my account, thinking I’d have to reinstall and possibly lose everything previously posted. There on the software was a link to click to download the latest WP so I clicked it. Miraculously, everything got restored and the new version was installed.

I wish SiteGround had a statement on their home page that clients who wanted to upgrade to the newest WP version just had to go to the Control Panel. I certainly wouldn’t have wasted hours reading and studying and backing up.

Takeaway Truth

A good glass of wine will make you say: All’s well that ends well.
