The Year Wanes
This year has been an interesting study in the way time passes. At times, the weeks seemed to speed along like a jackrabbit in west Texas. At other times though the days passed slower than an armadillo crossing a blacktop road. When one bad thing after another happened, I just wanted to scream, “Will this horrible year ever end?”
The Bible says it rains on the just and the unjust which is another way of saying that bad things happen to everyone. The richest people have just as many problems as the poor. Of course, if you’re wealthy, it does make it easier to deal with some problems. I’ve never been one to think that money ruins people. I’ve known enough people with money to realize that money just gives you a different set of problems in addition to the standard ones.
Anyway, as 2009 draws to a close, whether you’re rich or poor, you’re probably looking back in reflection at the way you lived this year. Now’s the time to assess how you spent your time and your money. Did you get value in return?
If not, make a plan on how do things differently in 2010. Sure, it’s important to make every dollar count, but it’s more important to make every minute count. You can increase your wealth, dollar by dollar, but you can’t ever add more minutes to your day.
Takeaway Truth
Time and money are assets to be used wisely. Plan now how you will spend those two commodities in the new year.
