Food: 9th Day of Christmas

Santa_ListThere is one daily task that every family on the planet must undertake: to feed the family each evening. I don’t know about you, but some days, I’m just worn out by dinner time yet I still need to put a meal of some kind on the table. Even when the family helps out, which they usually do, it’s a chore.

My gift suggestion for this 9th day of Christmas is to give food: gift cards to restaurants, from simple to fancy, or actual food, wine, coffee, cheese, fruit, etc. ordered online and delivered to the recipient.

Save Money

Discounts abound online for food gifts. In fact, you can get good discounts for food as well as just about any item you can imagine. That’s why I always check my favorite discount and coupon websites before I buy anything online.

I can’t claim credit for shopping this way. My daughter introduced me to my first coupon site that I bookmarked. Now I have several sites I check because I like saving money. In fact, it’s my passion in this still struggling economy.

So, if you want to give a working writer a gift, think food. Even a Whataburger or Domino’s Pizza gift card is appreciated in this household. Don’t think food gift cards are just for high school and college kids though they do like them to the exclusion of just about anything. I mean, have you ever seen a kid who wasn’t hungry?

They’re great gifts for senior cits too. Chances are your grandmother, great uncle, or elderly neighbor doesn’t need another knickknack to gather dust. Many of them are on fixed incomes too so a dinner at even an Olive Garden or Red Lobster would be a treat.

Takeaway Truth

We working moms – and dads – appreciate food gifts because that’s one less meal we have to produce.
