Writing Pens: 8th Day of Christmas

I’m adding a verse to the traditional 12 Days of Christmas song, and it goes like this: “On the 8th day of Christmas, my true love sent to me, 8 writing pens. . . .” Why? Because I love beautiful writing pens and think everyone should have a quality writing instrument.

Actually, I buy a lot of pens each year from promotional pens emblazoned with my author cred or blog promo line to elegant pens I use for writing by hand. In fact, I have a glass-top box filled with beautiful pens on my desk so I can select the one that fits my mood when I write.

Pen Selection

I have a beautiful marble pen I use to sign contracts. It’s one my husband gave me years ago when I received my first book contract so it’s become a tradition. In fact, when I’m dressing for an event, I always select a pen that coordinates with my ensemble to tuck into my handbag.

Just as business people are judged by their wristwatch, briefcase, and clothes, so are they assessed by their writing pen. So quality writing instruments are a utilitarian fashion accessory needed by those who want to make a good impression.

Price Range: Low to Wow!

Because you can find quality pens at discount stores, you can pretty much find great looking, great writing pens in every price range and in every style. I like this colorful European design on the Monteverde Ball Point pen shown above. It’s price is a little over $50.00. At this time of year, Office Depot (where I found the pen above) has beautiful pens at great prices. So does Office Max, Staples, and other big box stores so if price is a factor, shop around. Don’t forget to shop online where you can find real bargains.

Enjoy the tactile feel of writing the old fashioned way. It’s relaxing and pleasure giving to hold a well-balanced pen and watch the flow of ink as your hand moves across the page.
