Give Smiles: 5th Day of Christmas

Give the gift of a smile. By that, I mean donate to Operation Smile. They’re an organization of medical professionals who provide safe, effective reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate.

No child should be shunned and rejected because of these deformities, yet, they are in many places in the world. Each year, more than 200,000 children are born with a severe cleft condition that makes them unable to eat, speak, socialize or even smile. In too many cases, parents can’t afford the reconstructive surgeries the child needs in order to live a normal life.

Since 1982, Operation Smile, with the help of dedicated medical volunteers, has provided free surgeries to children in more than 50 countries.

This Christmas, give the gift of a smile to a child. Give them hope for a brighter future. You’d be surprised what a modest contribution can do and the miracles possible with bigger donations.
