Resolve Not To Print

Posted by Joan Reeves on Nov 16, 2009 in This Writer's Life, Writing Biz |

Sign_For What It's WorthI’ve been cleaning out my office and am aghast at the multiple piles of paper that I’ve accumulated this year. Most of this clutter are articles and research I’ve printed in order to read at a later date. The trouble is the time never opens up for me to sit down and read this wonderful information.

Bite The Bullet

I guess you could say I’ve bitten the bullet of reality, thought that’s a rather strange analogy, isn’t it? Anyway I’ve decided I’m going to cease printing research material and other stuff. In fact, I’m formulating this new procedure as a resolution for the new year that’s mere weeks away.

This resolution is designed to save paper and aggravation. Sure, I buy recycled paper and print on both sides, but this will be an even bigger savings of resources. The aggravation it will save is the burden of guilt I feel at looking at this paper clutter and knowing I’ll never have the time to read it. Yet, I can’t bring myself to throw all this away without reading. What a vicious circle.

With information on the Internet, there are any number of applications that give solutions to this problem. Explore and find a better way like Later This or Read It Later as just two examples.

Takeaway Truth

Printing and saving is just a way to procrastinate so eliminate procrastination with the help of good software applications.
